Picture 1 is correct
Picture 2 is Wrong

In picture 1 above the boiler is using less gas to warm up a house. The radiators will not be as hot as picture 2 and it will take longer to get a house warm but you are using about half the gas.
Example: If you drive your car at 80 mph you are using a lot more fuel, however if you drive your car at 50 mph less fuel is used. The journey may be slower but the car is running cheaply and because the car is driven gently the wear and tear will be less as well.
Similar to a boiler, in pic 1 the boiler is used gently so therefore less chance of boiler breakdown, it will last longer also less gas is being used.
Once you understand this idea you can save a third on your gas bills..... also it helps the planet.
